Delta Invitational

To wrap up the 2023/24 competition season, athletes attended the Delta Invitational Competition at the Richmond Oval from May 3-5th. The atmosphere in the Oval was electric, celebrating our athletes and coaches. Athletes again scored season highs and hit personal bests at this meet.

Gymnaestrada

Provincial Gymnaestrada was hosted in the Richmond Olympic Oval May 3-5th. This event opened the doors to gymnasts from all over the Province. The athletes attended multiple workshop including Parkour, Dance, visiting the Olympic museum in the Oval and more. The highlight of the event was the phenomenal performance taking the audience back into the 80's.

Congratulations to the the following athletes representing Chimo at this event:

Natalie, Marie, Sadie, Autumn, Morgan, Emilia, Allegra, Myla, Kate and Isla.

Thank you to coaches Troy and Twyla who choreographed and coached the performance as well as Malaiah and Jaelyn on assisting throughout the process.


Orca Invitational

As we are winding down the season, Chimo athletes competed new learned elements and achieved once again season high scores at Orca Invitational in Mill Bay March 26-28th. The dedication and continued hard work from athletes and coaches led to athletes medaling in various categories and events.
Congratulations Jade, Parker, Kayla, Adrianna, Brin, Cadence and Kinley and coaches Kelly, Saskia, Twyla and Kailey on your performance at Orca.

Our Performance Group also had their last meet of the season. Athletes in this group performed new elements, reached personal goals and overall had outstanding performances. Congratulations to Natalie, Marie, Autumn, Morgan, Emilia, Allegra, Myla, Kate, Isla and coach Troy. 


Provincial Xcel Challenge

From April 13th-14th, Chimo athletes competed in the first ever Provincial Xcel Challenge. All Chimo eligible athletes qualified for this meet.
All Chimo athletes placed in the top 10 in their age category. Our athletes worked had for multiple podium finishes as well as Event Champion titles and one all around Champion title.

CCP Provincial Championships

Congratulations to Jade, Parker and Kayla on amazing performances at Provincial Championships 2024.
The event hosted over 430 athletes, coaches, judges and volunteers at the PNE in Vancouver. 
Athletes demonstrated strong routines earning themselves season high scores and personal bests at this prestigious event.

Chimo is incredibly proud of the preparation and performances athletes and coaches have demonstrated at Provincial Championships.

Congratulations Jade, Parker and Kayla as well as coaches Kelly and Saskia and support Staff Twyla and Kailey.

 


Inspire Cup

Inspire Cup was hosted in beautiful downtown Victoria March 1st-3rd.

This competition was one of the Invitational meets in the preparation plan to Provincial Championships. Once again, Chimo athletes and coaches have prepared strategically and with attention to detail in order to achieve great results. Many Athletes have performed new elements, and increased routine execution earning a total of 27 medals.

In addition, a huge shout out to our Xcel Gold and Xcel Platinum Team who both won the Team Trophy in their category.

Christy Fraser Memorial Invitational

Our CCP athletes competed at CFMI in Langley on February 18th.

All 3 athletes increased their scores in multiple areas at this competition.

Congratulations to Parker who qualified to Provincial Championships, and Kayla and Jade as well as their coaches Kelly and Saskia, who had a great competition in preparations to Provincial Championships.

 

Christina Ann “Christy” Fraser was an avid gymnast until her tragic death in August 1992 at the young age of 12, after complications from contracting E.Coli. Christy is remembered by all who knew her as a dedicated gymnast who possessed the ability to overcome adversity with a cheerful smile and a “try again” attitude. Christy’s memory lives on with the Christy Fraser Memorial Invitational (CFMI), which began in January 1993 in the Langley Secondary School gymnasium, featuring around 170 athletes. CFMI has grown tremendously over the years, now attracting over 1000 competitors of all ages and skill levels from around the country. The Langley Gymnastics Foundation is proud to host this annual gymnastics competition and carry on Christy’s memory year after year.

Mount Arrowsmith Invitational 2024

February 9th - 11th Port Alberni Gymnastics welcomed competitors and performers from across the Province. This was the first appearance for Chimos Performance Team. Congratulations to Natalie, Marie, Autumn, Emilia, Allegra, Myla, Kate and Isla and coaches Troy, Malaiah and Jaelyn on this huge accomplishment.

In addition to our Performance Team, Cadence also had her first competition in the Xcel category. She has done an outstanding job and qualified for Provincials. The rest of the Chimo Xcel team also had great performances throughout the weekend. Chimo athletes accumulated a total of 9 Bronze, 10 Silver and 10 Gold Medals. Congratulations to Adrianna, Claire, Brin, Cadence, Kinley, Elise, Brinlee, Anabelle, Annie, Crosby, Hannah, Emma, Laeni, Dallas, Abbigayle, Liliya, Paige and Coaches Kelly, Riley and Saskia on a spectacular meet. All Chimo Xcel Athletes have qualified for Provincials.

 


Winterfest 2024

Winterfest Invitational was hosted in Coquitlam January 26th-28th.

Some of our athletes had their first meet of the season, for some it was the second. Special congratulations to Crosby and Brin for competing in their first ever competition. We are thrilled with the progress athletes have shown and continue to work on reaching their competition goals.

Holiday Classic 2023

On December 9th, three Chimo Athletes from the Canadian Competitive Program have competed at their first competition of the season. With the year just starting out, our athletes have proven to be prepared competing new elements and connections, and eager to have a successful season.

We are returning to the gym, using the feedback we have received in preparation for the next competition approaching in January.
